Rebranding IFC // We partnered up with our esteemed friends at Feel Good Anyway to rebrand the IFC Network last year. Here is a little look at what we did:
Our first order of the day with the brand was establishing a new logo. This is the primary logo. Brand first, qualifier second.
Here is the secondary logo. In this arrangement the tagline drives the visual communication, a theme you will find throughout the brand.
Many other treatments were required, such as these variants for specific content and programming categories.
The System. We established a playground with some very basic rules for typesetting and image usage that allowed for a huge range of formal variation, but drew clear boundaries with simplicity as an imperative for easy implementation.
Feature titles are set up for clear and quick communication. The typography can vary, but formal simplicity rules the day with a few constraints that help create dynamic compositions within a tight system.
Menu titles are the most defined and orderly for very clear reading.
The mortises are intended to be more flexible and playful, allowing for titles, show times, quotes and many other elements...
The squeezes are also set up in a very orderly fashion. There is a lot going on with those running credits. Keep it simple.
A lower third system was developed with maximum flexibility for titling across the network.
The rules of the system then began to be employed for programming-specific treatments like the News...
All of these elements came together as an organizing principle for re-skinning the website and other online properties.
